Blooming Cookies Launches New Web Site
Thriving Company Improves Online Ordering Capacity
Atlanta, GA (Oct. 6, 2003) – Blooming Cookies, a unique gourmet cookie and gift company, has launched a new ecommerce Web site. The company, which is celebrating the start of its 20th successful year in business, was an early adopter of e-commerce technology. It first began taking online orders through its Web site in 1995. Now, through partnerships with Objectware, Inc. an Atlanta Web Design Company, it has launched an innovative, shopping cart Internet website.
The site, www.bloomingcookies.com, has a new look and updated graphics, reflecting the theme of “Celebrating 20 Years of Unique Gifts.” It will include the evolution of the company’s mascot "Bloomey," as well as photos of founder Ann King personally delivering cookies to various celebrities in the company’s early days.
It also supports an online ordering system that integrates the gift company’s back office operations and adds an extensive inventory management module, accounts receivable integration and an e-mail campaign management tool.
“Blooming Cookies prides itself on our one-on-one customer service,” says King. “The new site will get us that much closer to our customers, and let us serve them better.”
“The staff can monitor activity on the site, and if they sense a potential buyer is having trouble, they can jump in and help with the order,” says Blooming Cookies General Manager Jay Jenkins. “It’s a top-notch e-commerce system that will grow with us.”
The site’s back office functions were designed by Objectware, Inc. “Our partnership with Blooming Cookies has been truly a marriage made in heaven,” says Erez Katz, President and CEO of Objectware, Inc. “Blooming Cookies understands and leverages technology, and it was a pleasure to witness firsthand how the software we developed continues to push them to the next level,” he adds. “Blooming Cookies can now scale in volume with little or no impact on operating cost.”
Entrepreneur Ann King founded the company in early 1984, when she came up with the innovative idea of baking gourmet cookies and attaching them to floral stems with silk leaves. She later began arranging the cookies in whimsical, personalized containers, including a wooden rocking horse, which is the company’s biggest seller. Blooming Cookies has grown to become one of Federal Express’ largest Express shipping accounts in the Southeast, shipping packages to all 50 states.
